Sgt.Clark Archer* and other members of the combat team set up the roadblock, hid in a drainage ditch and as planned, waited for their rear lookout's signal. When the signal comes that he's spotted the Nazi Command car coming their way Archer's team prepare to attack. After a raging fire-fight between the two forces there were six Nazi fatalities.
Disclaimer: The incident pictured in the above photograph ,although somewhat similar to the roadblock incident in the fictional story "Operation Hausberg",is coincidental."Operation Hausberg" was written for entertainment with no historical significance other than that which is of common knowledge .
NOTE: Additionally, it is wise to mention that the German V-1 & V-2 Flying Bombs mentioned in the story "Operation Hausberg" actually existed. Although the forerunner of the deadly V-2 rocket/flying bomb was the loud/noisy/inaccurate V-1, which as the story tells, fell short of what Hitler's expections were for the ultimate weapon he hoped it to be to win the war, it nevertheless opened the door to one of the most fearsome war weapons of all times. The deadly V-2!Thousands were killed ,including the brother of the author of "Operation Hausberg". The 21 year old soldier, after having survived the bloody D-Day Normandy/Omaha Beach landing and the Battle of The Bulge was killed in Belgium, by the Nazi's flying bomb.
